"Corina Belcea, Antoine Landerlin, Mihai Ritivoiu, quel talent dans ce trio! Les variations de l’Andante sont une splendeur de variété, de timbrage, de fluidité, l’enchaînement avec le finale nous laisse comme asséchés. Un grand moment de musique."

Ritivoiu showed himself to be a strong but sensitive player, maintaining a fluent rhythmic flow in the opening movement, and bringing attractive, homely warmth to the slow one. The waltz-like inflections of the third were finely judged and there was plenty of brio in the finale. It was a performance, both technically and interpretatively, that well deserved the enthusiastic audience response.

…you really need this CD for George Enescu’s Piano Sonata No. 1. The first movement’s constant shifts in mood and tempo discombobulate and enchant, the ensuing scherzo suggesting Debussy, Gershwin and Bartók by turns. And what an extraordinary finale, the plaintive opening melody overlaid with what sounds like distant church bells. Beautifully recorded, handsomely played – a solo recital to cherish and press into the hands of family and friends.
